Muwanguzi High School Kabojja prides itself on the quality of all its teachers and staff and on the relations among them. The school succeeds because the faculty works hard and supports each other cheerfully. Our leaders believe in “the contact of mind upon mind,” the charged connection between diligent, loving teachers and their pupils. As a community we work hard and well, look after one another, and have some fun.
We expect Muwanguzi’s teachers to teach carefully and responsibly, to form a class with its own personality while recognizing the value of each student within it. They understand that character, integrity, and kindness are as important as intellectual accomplishment. Muwanguzi wants its students to pursue learning, to take pleasure in helping others, and to do their very best with what they have.
Mr. Kayongo David, Founding Director and Principal
Born in Mulago Kampala, Uganda, Mr. Kayongo, registered by the Ugandan government as a graduate teacher, has taught and been a leader in several secondary schools in Uganda. While teaching is his passion, Mr. Kayongo saw how unfairly students without financial support were treated, and decided to take to action on his own. Growing up having to fend for himself, Mr. Kayongo was determined to help children that were in a similar situation in which he knew so well, eager to learn but without a path set to succeed. In 2006 Mr. Kayongo founded the Muwanguzi High School. While Mr. Kayongo oversees the entirety of the school’s operations, he still makes time to teach Geography and Political Education, subjects he attended graduate school for. Mr. Kayongo hopes to spread his wings of knowledge to as many children as possible, and dreams of opening up multiple schools across Uganda.

Ms. Nambogga Harriet Kayongo, Co-Founder, Nurse, and Counselor
Born in Mulago Kampala Uganda, Ms. Nambogga a registered nurse, attended college for the sole purpose of helping people. Ms. Nambogga’s father died when she was 10 years old. Ms. Nambogga stayed with her mother who did not have any formal employment, but was a village farmer. Ms. Nambogga was very sickly during her childhood and the medical services were inadequate and expensive. As Ms. Nambogga grew she saw many people who were going through a similar struggle. I got interest in becoming a Nurse and counselor because I believed that through this, I would be able to reach out to, and help many people who needed medical services and psycho - social support. This is why I studied to become a Nurse. Later Ms. Nambogga joined university and studied to become a counselor. Ms. Nambogga currently works with the New Hope Women Rehabilitation Center Uganda, and also in a medical center. Ms. Nambogga volunteers at Muwanguzi high school as a Nurse and counselor. This experience has helped Ms. Nambogga to understand the challenges of the youth and to reach out to the communities where these students come from.
